Summary
Chooch may be the youngest in the family, but he's far from a baby—at least, not in his older sister Sissy's eyes. While everyone else is busy fixing up the house and tackling various tasks, Chooch is always eager to lend a hand. Though his attempts often end in more mess than help, the family remains patient with him—everyone, that is, except Sissy. Just when she's at her wit's end, Sissy is reminded that Chooch might not be so different from her after all. And what are siblings for, if not to teach you the ropes, and guide you through life? Join Sissy and Chooch in this heartwarming story of two siblings shaping a bond as carefully and beautifully as they mold a clay pot, learning from each other as they go.
Review
Readers will warmly welcome the tale as old as time: a seemingly annoying younger sibling who messes everything up – and an older sibling who, begrudgingly at first, but eventually fully grows into a loving teacher and role model. This story is so intentionally written with many Cherokee customs woven deeply into each plot point. It’s a heartfelt reminder of the power of traditions, and the beautiful way they are passed down – through family.

Considering multiple perspectives: How does Sissy feel towards Chooch? Does Chooch feel the same way or differently towards Sissy? Does Chooch seem to notice? Why or why not? What clues tell you that? How does Sissy’s perspective change over time?
